    hi all i was just wondering if my ddr2 ram is dodgy cos my system gone very slow but not all of the time though.i've only formatted the disk a few days ago.as far as i can tell no virus on system.have scaned with avg and i've zone alarm anti-virus/spyware running and all up to date.i'm using 1gb of ram and a ecs pf5 extreme mobo,3.2 p4,250 sata drive,onboard sound and a radeon x300 256mb g.c. i tried resitting ram but no diff. cant find any faults with hardware r drivers.heat is not a prob either unless the ram is 2 hot but i doubt it cos have good airflow thriugh system.oh and i'm using xp home with all updates. if anyone can think of something that might help i'd be very greatfull.thank you in advance for ur time

    Perhaps zone alarm is slowing down your PC. It really slows down some of my pcs.

    If you do think it is your ram, there is a program call memtest86.

    go download it, then run it, and leave it do its thing. If the ram is on its way out it will report errors.

    But in all fairness. its sounds like some background app is hogging resources. Press ctrl+alt+del and see whats using alot of memory. If its not important, like a svhost ot similar kill it.

    Also try defragging your hdd a few times. This always helps.

    Oops I saw a comma between zonealarm and anti-virus/spyware. Sorreh! My AA batteries are low. :)

    ok i had 2 borrow a floppy drive...so i did the memtest:( nothing showed up!.i'm stumped! help plz plz plz.
