    Hi there everybody,
Just wondeirng if anybody here has experience using those self raising and lowering beds with the remote control? I think I'm gonna need to get one for my mum, and have no idea where to be begin. I remember seeing one of those watchdog shows a while ago that showed really poor sales techniques involving bullying and threats from one of the bigger companies, and I'm wondering if anyone has advise as to a good company to approach?

Also, would €1000 be a fair idea for a price on one, or am I am being a bit too hopeful?

    Any advice is welcome.

Does she have a medical card ? If so the health board should supply it. Ask her district nurse.

Oh, cool. She does have a medical card alright. We asked about it before, but they sent us what looked like the upper half of a sun lounger. Because she is a big woman, it wasnt stable so we brought it back to them. I'll follow it up again, cheers for the tip.

The health board *will* provide it, but it will be means-tested (depending on the medical card) and it will have to be recommended by one of their Occupational Therapists (whom you will be V lucky to get hold of within 6 months if you live anywhere near Dublin!).
If you go the way of the health board, be prepared for a long fight and a long wait to be assesed by an O.T.

It will basically be a hospital bed. No frills.
