    http://imdb.com/title/tt0395585/

9 Strangers wake up in a house, seemingly unconnected. Of the 9, only one will leave the house alive.

Very saw-esqe, actually, have seen it myself and found it quite good.

Might be worth a watch to those who like the Saw movies in particular, the movies are not directly similar, mind, so don't be expecting blood and gore abound but it definately compares to Saw II in senario, as the people have no idea why they are there, or how to escape the house and everything inevitabely turns nasty.

My friend saw it and said it's rubbish. From the description, I'd have to agree.

Sounds a small bit similar to that movie Identity with John Cusack and Ray Liotta.

I found that one highly enjoyable.

    Meh.

The all ripped off Cube tbh...

Yes just watch the Cube and put all these wannabe's to rest. I'm sure like Saw II it's entertaining but ultimately ur better off leaving it.

I saw the trailer for another film a few weeks back that was essentially 'Saw'..

    .. but in a warehouse!

Will try and find out the name of it again but arsed it i remember. Think it had a pretty good cast too.

I was given a copy of this by my Sister's fella.. it's tripe. Rips off the cube in the main plot idea and then tries to put a cliff hanger ending on? Sorry cube is far better.. even Saw || was better and thats not saying much

I mean Dennis Hopper man.. what are you doing?

I don't really agree. The Cube is about government agencies and how something can get out of control when no one pays attention. While Saw is much more like Seven. Either way entertaining for what it is and original enough IMHO.

I was referring to the film mentioned by the OP and Saw 2 really...
Saw 2's whole concept was a direct lift from Cube.
Doesn't matter that it was making a different point, it's still lazily ripping off a lesser known films original concept and crowbarring it into a sequel which is hot commercial property.
Did Saw 2 even have a subtext?

And Cube wasn't about government agencies.
The scenario and the reasons they were put there were just the backdrop.
I would have said it was about how people interact in that kind of situation and the how survival instincts can influence peoples behaviour, actions and sense of what's moral acceptable.
The rest is just the setup for the character study.

OP, just get your hands on Cube and watch that.
    Brilliant film.

It's what sprang to mind when I saw "Saw 2" .. or initially it did. "Cube" has people starting off in different rooms as well and the people are there for different reasons than in "Saw 2" but I can see where you're coming from.
"Cube" is the superior film (IMO) because the minimalist sets worked.
Having said that the lifted concept didn't ruin "Saw 2" - I don't expect originality in horror movies and very rarely get it (last time I really felt it was in "A Tale of Two Sisters").
Did Saw 2 even have a subtext?
Did it need one? Its target audience isn't looking for analogies or clever authorial concepts.
And Cube wasn't about government agencies.
True, although the same can't be said to the same degree for "Cube 2: Hypercube".

Good points Ixoy, and well made.
Haven't seen the Cube sequel, I was afraid it would be terrible...

Just a bump for this.... to explain the film behind my ramblings above:

Just got the film in question today - it's called 'Unknown' (IMDb):
Five men wake up in a locked-down warehouse with no memory of who they are. They are forced to figure out who is good and who is bad to stay alive.

And i was right about the pretty good cast: James Caviezel, Greg Kinnear, Bridget Moynahan, Joe Pantoliano, Barry Pepper, Jeremy Sisto, Peter Stormare.

    Trailer @ Apple.com here!

Yip I posted about this a few weeks back.

Its an excellent film ,really good.
Not really like 'Saw' at all.
Its a thriller primarily ,no gore or horror, but its very taut and fast moving, clever as well.

Indentity isn't really a cube rip off. It was loosely based on the book Ten Little ****/Indians (or whatever PC title they give the book these days)
