I've been offline for the past two weeks as there was no internet here, but we finally got it hooked up last night. Not much to say, I've been playing with non-tone mapped HDR and IR together. I've a batch from today on my blog here and here's a few IR and a HDR from Menlo castle from Sunday last:

This was composed via Photoshop and a lot of work went into trying to balance the fore and backgrounds, I think I've the mix right, but I'm still a little thrown on the sky as it was simply a weird sky at the time I was shooting, as can be seen in these IR:

Some nice work there! 1st and 2nd for me. I keep wondering what else is through the window though.

Good to see you posting again, smashing work. 2nd one is the best imo, excellent stuff all round.

Nice work indeed. The second one would get my vote

A suggestion for the first one. At the edge of the window, I'd make it a hard transition between the stone and sky so you can avoid the slight halo effect. Assuming you're using layer masks, I'd go around the edge with a brush a few times with low opacity (say 10-20%) until it looks right.

Haloes are much less noticable in the shadow areas than in the highlights, ie, if the edge of the shadow area is underexposed relative to the rest, it's much less noticable to the eye.

I did promise folks a while back that I'd put my howto on HDRs into the "Digital darkroom" sub-forum, which I haven't forgotten, I'm just being lazy!

I really enjoyed the 1st one.
As I read the other comments (where most people seem to favour the 2nd one) I wnet back up & viewed it again.

Yep - it is a beautiful shot but I still think that the 1st one is the best!

    Really nice work!

I LOVE the first one! It's like something for a fantasy painting. :)
