I have about 20GB of music on my PC in work. Becuase my hard drive is getting full I want to move all of these to an external hard drive and play them from that. The problem i have is that I use WMP to listen to them and the paths for all these files naturally point to my main hard drive. I know I can delete them all from the WMP library and add them in again from the new location but I want to check something first. For some of the albums the track names werent filled in automatically so I entered them myself. Will I lose this information if i delete them from the library and add them in again from a different hard drive?

Nope, you shouldn't. This information (ID tag) will be saved to the actual mp3 file, not wmp.

Thats what I would have thought too but when I look at the id3 tags it has the old information in there. The info displayed in WMP is the correct info I entered

The info SHOULD stay there after you move them.

Try copying some of the files in question to another location as a test and see if it keeps the info , if not , MP3 ID tag editors are available off the net for free and should fix your problem in no time.
