I know tht it says on the M50 website that the works will be completed in 2008, but when will the crash barroers be removed form Ballinteer onwards and the 3rd lane open to motorists? It looks to me that the first stretch heading northbound is almost completed.Anyone shed some light on this please?

Complete speculation, but I'd say we'll be well into 2007 before any barriers are removed. The N7 and N4 junctions are getting hefty upgrades, so any barriers and limits will remain in place at least until they're finished, even if the three lanes are done years in advance.

Will prob never really be finished completely. They will always be working on at least one part of it.

Moanin, see bottom of mainline construction details page to see how they are building it.

From what you say, Stage 1 is nearing completion on part of the mainline. Elsewhere on the website they explain each stage takes ~ 4 months. So even if the centre looks nearly complete, there is still going to be 8 months minimum before mainline upgrade complete.
