    hi

does anybody know where i can get a freeware software recovery program, my external hard-drive has been completely wiped, i tried a program yesterday, it took me 5 hours to "see" the files that i once had, and then it asked me to pay if i wanted them restored.

    Any help is greatly appreciated

i need something that will recover movies and music? will this do the trick? Also could i be doing more damage than good by keep attempting to recover files, im just finding it difficult to find the full package that would restore them also. I have recently forked out on Norton Ghost 10.0 and don't fancy paying more for a file recovery program when i just need to use it once.

A friend of mine left his Card reader plugged in to the PC before powering down and lost all his photo's. I am trying to recover them for him, I have downloaded Easy Photo Recovery 1.2 and it has found the missing photo's and they are all there thankfully but it is only a free trial software and won't actually recover them for me without forking out $29.95.

Any open source equivalent?? It is an XD Olympus Photo Card.

it would not be too bad if it was only photos i have lost but it is games, movies, music etc. I am not sure if there is anything out there that recovers the whole lot together

You could have a look at DiskInternals Uneraser or Spinrite (it aint free though), see if they are any use to you.

I salvaged my friends photo's since. I downloaded PC Inspector Smart Recovery from this website and it is a freeware, no purchasing or keys or any of that sh*t, It was my ninth different piece of software I downloaded, the rest would find it but would either watermark the images or look for money.

    PC Inspector Smart Recovery FTW,

Man you can't beat those Germans, they really are the most efficient and innovative in the world.

is that the way it works, do you need a second hard disk to store the recovered files??? my external HDD is 250 GB, do i need to find a second disk the same size to restore my files??
