 Ok...so it's the 2nd day of being left without water or toilet facilities....would I be within my rights to go home and work from there?

well, I wouldn't go marching in and demanding taxi fare home or anything, but if you suggest it to your boss, I'd be surprised if they say no.

Funny coincidence, I awoke this morning to no water in my appartment block. Had to bring stuff in to work and wash like a homeless person in the bathroom sinks ;)

I would've thought that within health & saftey regulations they've to provide a lavatory and if it's broken you are to be sent home. I'm nearly sure I heard that before from someone:confused:

I love reading all these posts, "am I within my rights to do this" and "am I withing my rights to do that" about the most stupid of things.
Ya of course there is lots of legislation and lots of acts at work that must be adhered to. However, unless you want to stay in the same position for the next 10 years, I would not be giving my boss a headache, there is a way around everything.
How would it look if your manager or boss turned to everyone and said "There is no water for the loo, so I am going home to do my work there".

    Improvise my friend!! :)

I am not being a p***k but come on, do you really have to go and make things more difficult??

Is this what people have come to in this country.
Are people that confident and secure in their jobs.

Had to rant about this one guys, sorry :D

Hmmmmmmmmmmm....funny that - since it was my BOSS who came into me this afternoon claiming that if this situation isn't resolved soon he will be sending everyone home.........and I hadn't even said anything to him. I do not believe in making life more difficult for anybody.....and I'm sorry you believe this is a stupid question......

As a first timer to these boards I didn't realise my intelligence would be in question....I will be much more circumspect in future:rolleyes:

Improvise?!? What do you suggest....that I squat outside the office? I nor my colleagues should have to improvise when it comes to going to the loo....I do believe we're in the 21st century?

AND yes....some people do happen to be THAT secure in their jobs.....;)

Its probably all part of an elaborate redundancy plan. They have run out of cash and want to force you home for weeks on end until you just wake up one day with free flowing water at home and forget all about that building you once used to travel too.

    ;)

    :D:D I wish!

I hope you have free flowing water when you get home and don't have to wash in the work sinks again;)

I never suggested you should have to prove your intelligence.
It was an opinion I had. I dont see the need for comlaining about a loo.
Are you in a very remote area.
Do you go to a restaurant for lunch or anything.

I just think its petty whining over a broken toilet.
If everyone carried on this way, tradesmen and the like would make no money. It all comes back again to being a bit too cushy in ones job!!

I want to reiterate, I was not being a p***k

Sometimes you just have to accept certain variables.

Fair enough its been going on for 2 days.

    :)

If I couldnt use the toilet in work I'd be ****ed and be fairly upset about it. It would be practical for me to go any where else.

Jesus, this morning I woke up to find the water off again in my appartment block (it was off yesterday morning, but on yesterday evening).

I had just done some exercise and was all sweaty so had to make a quick decision as I was late. Walked to the local gym thinking I could take a shower there and then go on to work. Got to the gym but it was closed due to flooding! By this stage I am starting to freeze as I have nothing but shorts and t-shirt plus a bag with my work clothes and stuff. I got the tube to work and luckily they have showers downstairs so I could sort myself out.

Looks like Karen and I are having problems at either end of the water spectrum.

Well.....as it happens I was on day off yesterday....so no toilet issues:D Was going to bring potty with me today or maybe even get some nappies:eek: but turns out all is well in the loo department.....my bladder can rest easy:D Irishproduce..I am actually in a remote area...but that aside I was probably being a bit emotive on the whole intelligence thing....wearing feelings on a sleeve and all that:rolleyes: Apologies!
And BossArky.......... I sympathise! What is going on with that apartment block of yours:confused:

:D I really appreciate how you phrased that:) , very picturesque:D

Seriously isn't there some law against doing that?

Dunno! Is it not that it's illegal to do a number 1 but if a number twoseys involved you can't be arrested 'cause it can be life threatening to hold it in? :D:D
