Villain is Fitz regular, he's loose preflop but not a complete idiot post flop. I have a stack of 400, villain covers.

EP raises to 7, one caller, woman goes all-in for 13, villain calls on button, I look down at QQ on SB and pot to 70. Villain is only caller.

    Pot is 170

    Flop is 2 3 8 rainbow, I bet 100

Villain thinks and puts me all-in

I don't beat very much, is this an instafold?

I go broke here in the Fitz. Most of the time a set is played slower than this. I don't think he has that or two pair often enough for me to fold. It's the Fitz like.

you beat alot here and this is not a standard fold.
unless villain is a rock then i would call this .
do you think villain would fold 99,TT,JJ here ?

    you can't fold here!!

Firstly, you have 170 of your 400 already invested in the pot - the flop couldn't be any better for your QQ

    He most likely has an overpair to the flop, so;
    99
    TT
    JJ
    KK
    AA

    ...3/2 in your favour

If he hit hit set - he would hardly push?

Im gonna guess TT, if he has AA of KK - just tough luck!!

Ok - im not too familiar with the play in the fitz - but is pushing with 88 here not crazy?? (or brilliant - dependeing how you look at it!)

Two reasons for pushing with set here:
1: they know you have an overpair and are afraid of letting you hit your set - if this is the case - they really shouldn't be playing poker imo

2: they are very clever and know that the move will look weak and therefore get the call they desire, considering that you are more or less pot committed anyway if you have a hand

Also it is possible that the villain puts you on a hand like AK here and just wants to rebluff you - he may not even be beating AK !!!

The bottom line is that it's only gonna cost you 230 for a go at the 800+ pot so imo you really have to make the call.

...just wondering: do people think my way of thinking is wrong/warped ?? I always seem to be at odds with everyone else around here! :(

...im not disagreeing with any of your ideas - they all make total sense btw - i just see it differently :)

How long does Villain think for and does he seem happy pushing? 99-JJ aren't going to instapush on this flop after the way the betting has gone.
I think you're boned, effed in the A if you will.

After you take your chips out of the pot explaining that only you can put yourself all in and would villain please look after his own game sheesh

I would remember this is the fitz call and expect to see 45

But you have an OVERPAIR!. I'm going broke here.

    Call.

I'm guessing this is from last night, which table were you on, out of interest?

yep I called and sure enough he tabled 33.

On reflection, I think I could've got away from this. I think he just calls the flop bet with hands like A8,99,TT and would most likely re-raise higher pairs preflop. 2-pair is more or less out of the question, which leaves only sets.

@phantom_lord: Last night indeed, for this hand I was on the back left table in seat 7. The above hand had me on tilt for the whole night. . Awful night for me, you may have also seen me get allin preflop against SideshowBob for a 600 pot AK Vs his AQ, he made a straight

Its the Fitz, so Villian willpush with a set...A lot of the time you will be shown AA, KK, 88, 22, 33 here. Of course he will sometimes have 99, 1010, JJ. However, the majority of the time you are behind...I may not do it instantly. But I do think that I would find a fold here after much sighing and grumbling.

    Well Played Lloyd!!

Maybe explains why i'm broke ;)

33 for €70...... I think if I played the Holdem cash games I would end up in prison for assault afterwards.

The first night I was in the fitz i wtched a guy call a €80 reraise with 75, off!

Yeah the luckbox hit a house or something. Left me with a lasting impression of the place.

I think I would make the right call 80% if I was playing, too hard to tell if he definitely has a set just from reading the hand.

Any live 1 / 2 PL cash in Dublin is dangerous. You will find yourself in situations where certain (there are some good players around you know) opponents have hit the most unbelievable hands with pocket holdings that you could never credit. But, on the other hand, the vast majority of times that guy misses the 3, folds on the flop and essentially donates €70 to you for no discernible reason. It bis because they call for ridiculous reasons that you play - on a night where your cards stand up where they should, a reasonable and disciplined player can make a killing.

Yup watch out for the sharks like LuckyLloyd, cleaning us minnows out 7 days a week. Lloyds 2 middle names are positive and variance.

This hand is a call for me. The only hand i can see playing for 70 preflop that beats you is 88

Lol Lloyd. You're a big eejit. I was avin a giraffe. But you are a shark and you know it! I don't think your style of play is boring. You play an excellent tag game and IMHO are in the top 5%-10% of live cash game players in Dublin and your week on week results reflect that....

    My 2c.
