Advice on moving PC to the States

I am planning on moving to the US in January and I want to bring my PC with me but I can't decide if I should take it all apart and bring it that way (which is more troublesome and I want to avoid if possible), or transport it over as it is, which would be the safest option? has anyone done this before? anything I should be worried about? Is it risky? Would I have any problems bringing it with me as part of my luggage?

I feel pretty uneasy about bringing it such a long distance. I've thought about selling it but I know I wouldn't get what I'd want for it and I'm pretty happy with it as it is right now so I'm not arsed getting the money together to build a new one. I'm selling the monitor but thats it, can grab a 2007WFP for a lot cheaper over there : ). I'd appreciate it if anyone has any advice.

Also, when I get there, is it just a case of switching the PSU around? or does anything else need changing?

You should be able to just flick a switch on the PSU to 110 Volts and that should be you sorted. Personally, I'd just take out the hard drives, sell the rest and buy a new machine in America

Agreed with feyla, remove the hard drives and bring them with you. Thats what I done anyway. Machines and parts to build them are quite cheap here.

Thanks for the replies guys, might have to give more thought to selling it, probably is the best option. I hope I can get a decent enough price for my current machine. I posted the specs over on the 'how much do you think my computer is worth?' thread, just waiting to see what I should maybe start asking for it.
