flax is full of omega 3 fatty acids. There's plenty of info about it here

It seems from your post that you don't actually know anything about the Flax oil at all? You just kinda heard that it was good for you and off you went?

I would suggest you research something fully before introducing it to your diet.

well due to the fact that i am cutting,i was looking up diets for it and flax seed appeared in it quite often,i know it has good uses for lifters etc but i am more aware of the uses and benifits for your kidneys, nerves and blood pressure.

I'm curious to know what you mean by 'cutting'?? Do you actually mean 'lose weight'?

Yes, flax is used very often by 'lifters etc.' both in cutting and bulking cycles. What kind of training do you do? What's your body fat right now? How long have you been bulking? What type of training programme do you use? What dietary regime are you following?

well i went from 12.5st to 15.5stone(most of it lean:rolleyes: ) and im tryin to lean out and get toned(pardon the expression),for the past while i have been doing heavey weights, more like power lifting with very little cardio and eatting like a horse as well, right now i think the time has come to try and get a pack and generally lok lean and im try to get in shape for a climbing comp as well and if i lose weight ill get a bit better at climbing.

I have started doing cardio religiously lately and my climbing has also increased as well with some of my workouts just being climbing and cardio.I still make sure i do weights as well but im doing more of a HVT programme lately, but i do do some HIT every few weeks to keep my strenght up as well.

When i say im "cutting" i mean im trying to lose fat,not overall weight if you get me,i have cut out heavy carbs like rice, pasta and potatos,i still eat a lot of protein and shakes, lots of fruit and veg, just trying to eat healthy.

My BF% is in the 20's id say or high teens(no way in hell im posting a pic)

Ah grand so. Personally I find high fats and proteins, low carbs to be effective, but then there's always the trade off with lower energy. (But just to point out, if you are on a cal deficit, it's really quite imortant to keep the fats up- they provide teh precursors to most androgenic hormones so you'll need them to keep Test high- walnut, flax, sesame, avocado and olive oils are all great). Some people tolerate carbs better than others and can lean out well qhile having them in teh diet- I can't!!! If you can manage it time-wise, try and time it so that you give yourself a nice long time to lean out- the slower you can do it the easier it'll be physicologically and you can still eat anough to stay strong. If you've put on 3 stone not all of it is going to be lean muscle mass (and certainly not if it went on very fast) so you're going to have to guage jsut how much you want to lose. It's also entirely possible to increase lean muscle while losing body fat if your diet is up to scratch. Maybe try and look into doing HIIT instead of HIT to spare msucle mass but keeep the metabolism high?

It might be an idea to look into taking BCAAs too as a protective measure for your muscle mass, and make a real effort to make sure the food you are eating is quality clean food, especailly if you're running a major calorie deficit- your body will thank you for it in the long run.

Especially if this is your first time doing soemthing like this, also make the effort to keep track of things- note your weight, food intake etc etc. It'll help you see how you respond to various macronutrient ratios. Enjoy!

good stuff, any good links to HIIT routines,im always trying new stuff to keep me in check, ill look into some BCAAs as well, was reading your diary in the logs, dont think i could go to that extreme but fair play, great results.

Thanks! yeah what I did is pretty extreme and probably more of a 'true' cut tbh- it's not easy at all but it's worth it eventually. The Tabata method is pretty cool for HIIT but any kind of intervals (sprinting, x-trainer or bike) are effective too.

If you do get BCAAs get them from a supplement company- I know that you can get them in health food stores but the ratios in the BBing supplements are better for muscle growth and I honestly credit them with helping me maintain and increase my lean muscle mass while I was eating so little.

    I used two:

Prolab Amino Acid 2000- this is a full amino acid profile supplement, so you get all your amino acids in it, but the tablets are hyooooge and you have to take six of them at a time, it's kind of nasty :( but I went with these twice a day to fulfill my aa needs. Forgotten how mcuh this is- maybe around €30 for a month's worth?

Ultimate Nutrition BCAAs - these just have valine, leucine and isoleucine in them and I took them post-workout (the MOST important time to take BCAAs). I got these from bodybuilding.com (about €18 for a month's supply inc p+p) but you can get similar BCAAs from t-nation.com too.

TwinLab also do Amino Fuel which is like the ProLab capsules but in liquid form. The supplement store on Camden Street (mickk's place) has TwinLab and Prolab afaik and so does Jon's shop in Phibsboro but you could pm them to find out.
