Could this External HD be converted to Firewire?

Dont know much about external HD kits & stuff but just saw this 7200 RPM External Hard Drive in Lidl UK and was wondering if its possible to add firewire capability to it? I mean is there a Firewire box that you can put the drive into or something. It has an ATA/100 interface?

I doubts the 3 year warranty would be covered if it didnt work.

Some of the enclosures let you swap drives in and out easily so you could swap a HD out with a nice fast dual layer burner.
Of course if you're in the UK you could probably pick stuff up like this even cheaper.

I have my eye on this enclosure: http://www.cooldrives.com/combo-sata-drive-enclosure-firewire-and-usb.html.

It has USB2, SATA and a FireWire port and claims to work with Macs.

It's also on sale at the moment. It works with both IDE and SATA drives.

You just have to reformat into either FAT or HFS+...

Hardly -- what about those hopeless ones that need drivers; those very ones that provide drivers only for Windows? Don't get me started! But I take your point.

As far as I know, Macs can boot from external drives if connected by FireWire.

I haven't heard of such a device, rinnin. But first few results in Google found these:

Yes and no, it is one of the most commonly-supported 1394 chipsets that supports booting though

Ethernet id be interested to hear more about those drive you are talking about.
