In response to another thread and the MJ/JB/Prince video, I thought I should post here a bit more often. Tbh though I'm not really that up to date on the current soul and r'n'b scene, and funk pretty much died out way before Rick James imo, with the exception of Prince of course!

I'm suprised this video isn't already up on youtube, or maybe it was taken down for some stupid reason, but anyway, hopefully this will last longer and a few more people who frequent this forum will at least get to see it. It was done some months ago by a guy over at housequake.com (great resource for Prince videos btw) - VC61 I believe.

Anyhow, I think this will make ya'll wanna dance... enjoy :)

Nice video, documents very well the influence James Brown had upon both MJ and Prince.

Here's a better one of MJ. The second one is pretty good as well.

Love the Cab Calloway footage at the end. Funny to see that the main moves on MJ and Prince were being done back in the 30s.

Fred Astaire's pretty fly for a white guy.

Looking at the opening of one of those MJ videos, he must hold the record for least threatening person to start a scrap.

I don't know if this is allowed because of the charter, please delete this post if it is. I never knew James Brown was playing tonight and tomorrow night.

As much as I liked the videos for Billie Jean, Beat It, Thriller, Bad and Smooth Criminal, it does get a bit tiresome seeing MJ doing the same rehearsed moves over and over again.

Here's another one (Prince only this time) made by the same guy. I'm not too fond of way he started using so many dancers around 1990 - much preferred his more James Brown like and less choreographed 80's improvs.

Speaking of MJ, this funky video from Talking Heads features the backslide or 'moonwalk' two years before he took most of the credit and made it his signature move.
