Multiroom and current Sky offer

    Hi,

I am getting sky digital in before christmas and have a few questions.

    1. I have not really been keeping an eye on offers, is the current offer of 3 months half price and free installation as good as its gonna get, or might there be a much better offer for christmas?

    2. With multiroom you have to pay for the 2nd box, so does it not have a 12 month minimum subscription?

    3. You have to keep the boxes connected to the phone line "all the time" with multiroom. Say the phone was engaged, would the channels stop working or would it just try later? And how often are these updates, daily, weekly, monthly?

    1) Dont know what offers they have, i tried to call them and upgrade to sky plus and the guy on the phone didnt know anything about their prices in the ROI so i never bothered.

2)You dont have to get multiroom but if you did im sure you could cancel the subscription for it by telling them you will leave them when the year runs out.

    3) You just need the phone line while its being installed, then you can remove it if you want, its only needed if you want to buy from box office, prem plus, or some interactive options..

You can't remove the phone line on Mirror multiroom. It tries at random times when you are not using the phone. If after a period of time (1 to 2 months) Sky complain and do not get the boxes validated by phone as being on same line, then you pay two full subscriptions from when they had the issue.

Multiroom is a minimum of 12 months.

    Thanks for the replies.

watty: So if you took the box to a mobile home for 1 or 2 weeks holiday, it wouldn't stop working and would connect when you got back? Or would 2 weeks be pushing it?

And would it make any difference if i just took the card and a different box with me and left the 2 subscription boxes connected while i was gone?

It's the card. not the box that has a subscription... It's the card that makes the box try to phone home.

2 weeks is likely OK. Don't connect either to phone while you are away. Unplug everything at home when away anyway.

    Ok, i'll do that, thanks.

One more question, if you take multiroom do sky always fit a quad lnb, or would they fit a twin lnb?

I ask because i have a box i want to put in one room to pick up fta channels, so will need 3 outputs.

There is no Twin LNB available designed for use on a Sky Minidish. So it'll be a Quad LNB that will be installed.
