I bought Mrs Dub13 a mini HiFi back at the start of the summer so she could listen to the radio etc in the kitchen.Everything was working grand on till a couple of weeks ago and now the reception on the radio is nearly non existent, you can only tune in Today FM.This is doing my head in as I like to have the radio on while I am in the house as am not a big CD man.

    Any advice....?

I'm going to move this to Home Entertainment as you may get a better response there.

Sounds like an aerial issue, if you can get today fm the radio works fine. If it has a telescopic aerial try adjusting it, if there's no aerial, most fm type aerials are just a meter length of wire in to the fm aerial connector

    Do you have a make/model number ?

    Some things to start :

    1. Have you moved the stereo or has anything been moved beside the stereo ? i.e. Large metal appliances like ovens fridges etc.

    2. It it a telescopic antenna or a piece of wire or a "T" antenna ?

    3. Is it possible that the set has a DX switch at the rear or as an option on the front panel ?

    4. Can you switch to mono - does it help pick up any more stations ?

    5. How did you notice the problem, was it always on Today FM and you happened to try tuning something else or did a previously stored/tuned station disappear ?

Once I know the make/model I could probably make some more suggestions.

    Hi thanks for the reply.

1)The stereo has not been moved since the day we got it,also no new appliances have been moved close by.

2)It is a piece of wire.

3)I can not see any switch.

    4)No mono option.

5)I previously had NewsTalk on most of the time and one day it just stopped.

    Its a Sanyo DC-DA1400M

Newstalk went national a few weeks ago requiring many listeners to retune and store the station because of frequency & RDS changes, have you tried this ?

Have you scanned across the entire band to see what other stations are available. Keep in mind that many stereos have 2 modes of scanning : Scanning presets - stations you have already tuned and stored. OR. Scanning frequencies - for example from 87.5MHz up to 108 MHz. If yours is scanning presets it may not have any stored stations except Today FM.

Sorry if I'm doing your already aware of all this ! I tried to get the manual for the unit from www.sanyo.ie but there seems to be a problem with their site just now so it won't show, I'll try again later.

    ZEN
