say a bunch of people walk into a bar, theres lots of other people with them, and they decide to sit down somewhere and start playing Magic, what would you think of that? Would you think they were insular and cliquey, scornful of the company of others not like themselves or would you think its perfectly acceptable to play magic in a pub, and that no one should tell other people what to do with their time if its not harming anyone?

Magic The Gathering- basic definition from wiki:

Each game represents a battle between powerful wizards called "Duelists" or "Planeswalkers" who use magical spells, items, and fantastic creatures to defeat their opponents. Though the original concept of the game drew heavily from the motifs of traditional fantasy role-playing games such as Dungeons & Dragons, Magic bears little resemblance to those pencil-and-paper adventures.

As long as they drink and shout like the rest of us they can do whatever they want.

    Although I'd probably think "wtf"...

It depends on the pub, I would say.
A bunch of my friends used to play a game at the bar on Sunday afternoons
called "Dirty Words" - not quite a board game, but more of a writing sort of game.
People would see us laughing and having so much fun they'd join in with us!

If it's a quiet place, why not liven it up?
You may want to ask the owner if they mind though.

I'd kick them out unless they ordered from the bar. There's nothing wrong with playing a game with a group of friends. It may be a bit cliquey, but I don't know how you'd even think that a social activity like that can be considered scornful of others company.

To those who don't know what Magic is, where do you think our "Boards The Gathering" cards came from? Damn n00bs...

I suppose it's the same as playing any card game in a pub  I hate card games anyway. Are we talking 9pm on a friday here?
