Faulty cd drive in ibook G4

    Hey my cd drive is after giving up in my ibook, it wudnt accept cds for a while, then it wudntnt eject them and now it wont read discs at all

    anyone know a good place to get a replacement drive

    ebay or powerbookmedic would be good. Also, a slot load drive from mini-itx.com would work if you get the same model.

    You could bang a DVD burner in there if you felt the need to.

    You have two main options:

    1) Buy drive that is supported by the OS, this limits your choice.
    2) Buy and slotload that you like and install the free software called patchburn so that it works with OS X's native burning support.

    Have a look in system profiler and get the exact model that is in your machine.

    Nah, the drives aren't hard to change or expensive, you just need to find out exactly what you are looking for.
