I got bored this evening and decided to actually learn how to use my camera:D One thing that always annoyed my was not getting things in focus when up close, so that was my first learning curve.

    So yay for me hahaha...

The minimum clse focusing distance will be on the lens some where if it's an SLR, o if it's a P&S it will be in the manual.
Congrats on the shots...experimentation will get you everywhere!

Yeah it was in the manual, using a Canon Powershot A95.

2nd one is the best IMO.

I think I might go fish out the manual & give this a go myself!!

Looks like it was a macro shot

I'm actually favouring the second shot myself now...

Yeah it was a macro shot, limited uses on the A95, all presets really... Those were the first few pics i took on it after actually reading the manual, so i got a lot of learning and experimenting to do. Fun though:)

specs on the camera can be found here

The second one is the best IMO.

The third one is a cliché that all beginners do(including myself at one stage) but you've done well and its still a good image!

    Well done!

Thanks, if i may ask... What part of it is a cliché? The fact that it's a guitar? The fact that the foreground is in focus and blurs as you move away?

    I'm such a n00b:)

Here's another one, doesn't really do any for me to be honest, but i'll put it up for some critical analysis:) I plan on taking a drive over the weekend so hopefully i'll have some decent ones then, i'm experimenting with photoshop also. Not so visible in this photo tho.

Nice work, thanks for sharing. :) Don't think I'll be sleeping after seeing the spider picture. *waits with newspaper in hand* Is it just walking on the wall there? I was just making out the surface.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,144 ✭✭✭LundiMardi

Yeah, it's climbing up the wall outside my front door, it was really dark out so i had to use a flash. Spider was actually quite small, took me a few tries to get it in focus hahaha. curse you shakey hands. :)

Its just a shot that everyone trys at some stage ya know? Its been done so many times!

That doesnt make your shot a bad shot by any means now so dont take me up wrong.

Here's another one, i actually took the picture months ago for whatever reason, i just used it to try out some photoshoppage. I hadn't planned on posting it up here but sure why not, some critique is always good. It's probably a cliché too:)
