I was listening to Ryan Tubridy this morning and he was talking to Duncan Stewart. Duncan said that we would all have to stop using power showers because they use 250 litres for a 10 minute shower. I was amazed at this and decided to have a look around the web for usage figures for Mira and Triton showers. The highest flow rate I could find was 14 litres per minute. Does anyone here know what Duncan was talking about?

It's possible that you are confusing Instant electric showers with "Power Showers" which use a high pressure pump to pump hot water from the hot water tank at significantly higher pressures (3-4 Bar) than the instant electric types.

I thought that too but Duncan said these showers were being installed in all new houses being built. He did saw that they were electric showers.

he must be wrong, we have European bathware so had a pump installed or it doesn't work properly. A power shower is completely different to an electric shower. To be honest we normally use it at way below its potential, also it depends how long your in there.

if your electric/power shower is in the bath then stopper it and check yourself. 250l for 10mins is v high. mine certainly doesnt use that much

I have a Mira Event and it certainly gives a very enjoyable shower. The one time recently I had to use a pumped electric shower when staying in a house I was bitterly disappointed!
