just seen this on the news and wondered what you guys think. i know i shouldnt but i burst out laughing when i heard this, just kept trying to imagine the look on a riot police guys face when after poping off a few rounds of tear gas a 1950s tank comes around the corner.

is it just me or do the hungarians do protests better than anyone else in europe? sure puts the "violent" ballinaboy protest in context :D

    LMAO...

Watercannon vs T-34/85. (an early 1940s, WWII era tank)

That's always been something about the Russian tanks, they would run for ever.

Apparently the protestors made the mistake of leaving the hatches open (In pic you can see driver's and TC's hatches are open), and the police managed to lob a CN cannister into the tank. End of joyride.

Hungarian cops lobbing CN into the tank. Fatal errors by the tank crew: Not shutting the hatches, and leaving their infantry support behind. They really should have known better. Considering they knew enough about the tank to put the right kind of batteries into it, fill it with diesel, and prime it, and drive it.

Video clip. Seems to be in pretty good nick, though the driver needs a bit of practise.

They were probably a bit worried about squashing people if they'd been buttoned up. :(

Coolest protest prop since the 25 x 10 foot teddy bear launching catapult at Quebec in 2001.

I would like to see it take on the water cannon

it must be one of those historic recreation vehicles, that still worked ,strange how much they tried to carry on as normal when they knew the **** was going to hit the fan, strange echo of the past... slightly reversed.

Oh dear. It's a pity some of them weren't squashed so.

Anyone who equates nazism and socialism is indeed an imbecile (Americas full of them if the nets anythings to go by  )

However, just as idiotic is someone who thinks crushing to death by tank is a fair punishment for someone who has different political views

Yeah, what could 'national socialism' possibly have to do with socialism?

Now that's what I call political correctness gone mad. If we were talking about almost anyone else but rioting supporters of a regime that sent half a million jews and other undesirables to death camps then I'd agree. But we're not so sod 'em. A few eejits squashed by their mates in the type of tank that helped wallop them first time around might earn them some darwin awards.

About as much as the german democratic republic had to do with democracy.

Nowt to do with political correctness mate, it just if your going to be all liberal about things then surely you must acknowledge a nazis (however misguided) right to be a nazi  Personally I think the massive growth of the far right in Eastern Europe is a lot more to do with the shambolic nature of the transfer to the free market as opposed to any inherent evil on the part of Hungarian right wingers. That's a whole other argument though ;)

Monkey tennis, I suggest you read a history book, an economics book and maybe a book on philosphy then get back to me.

Actually, by the looks of things you might want to start with a colouring book

Read the charter before posting any more on this forum. One more remark like that will get you banned.

I'm not a liberal. I have no time for nazis, or anyone who defends them, or anyone who doesn't think it would be amusing to see a few of them squashed by a T34.

It's a factor certainly but has nothing to do with the cool tank.

Even if the silly abuse is ignored, I'm a bit puzzled by this actually.

Who cares about what people who support the regime which carried out the activities pictured above have to say about anything. I don't. I hope the cops give the scum some bloody good hidings.
