Slacker and Dazed and Confused would make my all time top 10.

Here's what i'm talking about.. Linklater is one of my true favourite directors. Just so consistent over the years (bar 'The Bad News Bears' which was essentially 'Bad Santa' re-hased and done a helluva lot unfunnier).

If i had to pick a favourite, it'd probably be 'Dazed and Confused' .. a film i can watch time and time again.

    Tape
    Waking life ftw!
Does anyone know where or how to get a hold of Slacker? Wanted to see it for years but the only existing print of it I know about is the weighty and costly American version.

The Criterion Slacker DVD is worth every penny. The film is the worst thing on it. I appreciated Slacker, but it's not actually that good.

Favourite Linklater films are Dazed and Confused and Before Sunrise.

SubUrbia is an incredibly underrated film, it's very good also. He's consistently excellent (although I haven't seen Bad News Bears) and School of Rock proved he could do the director for hire thing quite happily.

As Lodgepole says the Criterion Collection DVD [like so many other films they have released] is well worth the $35. You also get his debut film on it, It's Impossible To Learn To Plow By Reading Books.

I remember a region 2 version of Slacker being available - saw it in HMV a few years ago - but it seems to be gone.

edit: it's on Amazon Marketplace for GBP 23.00

    go for the Criterion edition.

Tracked down Slacker not too long ago (it's available to rent in Galway) and was left cold after watching it. Before Sunrise/Before Sunset on the other hand are wonderful films.

Before Sunrise is probably my all-time favourite movie, though Dazed and Confused is certainly a top-ten.

For me, Before Sunrise was the first film that ever struck a chord with me in dealing with love. I think I fell head over heels with Julie Delpy's character in it the first time I saw it and still daydream about living out a similar experience (cue everyone thinking I'm a girl :P)
