    1st 20 mins 25 - 50
    2nd 20 mins 50 - 100
    3rd 20 mins 100 - 200
    4th 20 mins 200 - 400

    Then...
    30 mins 400 - 800
    30 mins 800 - 1500
    1 hour min. 3000 - 6000

Is that seriously your blind structure??
Double it for five levels then quadruple it???

This makes the CPT blind structure look good, and I thought that was as bad as it could get

Why no 150/300 or 300/600 level?.
Why such a late start?. Could it not start earlier to afford the above levels?,
Are these games on Saturday and Sunday aswell?
    Is there convenient parking?

Crapshoot city by the looks of it. I would be interested to hear an explanation from the OP.

All you need to do is include 75/150, 150/300, and 300/600 levels then it would be very like most tournaments in and around Dublin.
Im asking not for myself really but from a relation who lives fairly nearby who would like a game on a friday or saturday.

Sorry we left out a level, the 7th level goes to 1500 - 3000 for 30 mins so the antes only ever double, not quadruple.
The whole idea of these tournaments is to make it easy for people who work or have other obligations to play on any night they choose in a tournament that is over at a reasonable hour. As you can see the tournament is on every night and leads to a free 5000 euro tournament in December which can only be entered by finishing in the top 30.
We tried starting the tournament earlier which did not work, again because it is nightly. The players found it inconvenient. The new blind structure was introduced at the request of players and has proved popular.

To answer the other questions, yes the tournaments and cash games are on every night including weekend and there is plenty of parking.

    25 / 50 - 20 mins
    50 / 100 - 20 mins
    100 / 200 - 20 mins
    200 / 400 - 20 mins

    400 / 800 - 30 mins
    800 / 1500 - 30 mins
    1500 / 3000 - 30 mins
    3000 / 6000 - 1 hr

4,000 chips? Unless you arrive five minutes late in which case you receive 3,000:eek:

Good god. They'll be over to the cash tables quickly enough with that structure. I don't think I've ever seen the 8th level hit 3,000 / 6,000 before.

Yes obviously if you are late you don't get early bird chips. Duh! And we know we can't please everybody.

You are correct. I'm not the cleverest apple. I would have thought that a 3,000 stack was a complete waste of money with that blind structure - early bird chips or not. Obviously I am mistaken.

If there is 100% payout plus 300euro added every night plus entry into free 5000euro tournament in December how can it be a waste of money? Compare this to other tournaments where they take a large slice of the proceeds for themselves. Do the maths!

Your use of large sized font, underlines and bold to emphasise your points are interesting. Annoying mind - but interesting nonetheless.

It is standard practice for Card rooms across the country to charge entry fee plus an approxamite 5 - 10% reg. They keep the Reg and leave the prizepool intact. By doing this you are not offering any exceptional or never before seen Card Room value to punters - you just aren't ripping them off.

Adding €300 every night and having a league type final in December are nice bonuses. I commend you for that, and indeed I have not critiscised any issues regarding money or prizepool.

I am questioning what is, in my opinion, a crazy tournament structure that will leave very little room for decent poker to be played. You have mentioned that this structure was requested by punters and that they seem to be happy with it. Fair enough. If they fancy a bit of a gamble in Drogheda under the nominal name of poker then so be it.

However, I think it is far too fast and will almost certaintly reduce the quality of poker that is played on a nightly basis in this tournament. I would also suggest that a 33% stack increase in early bird chips is very significant and puts late registrants at a big disadvantage.

Now, I have re - read my first post of this morning. It is a bit smart - ass and I apologise for any offense caused.

As we said before it is extremely difficult to please everybody. For example, above posts have suggested an earlier starting time, then you say that people that cannot make for 9.30pm should not be disadvantaged re early bird chips. We find the standard of play very good as this is a freezeout not multi buy and our regular players find it gives them good discipline. Because it is on every night, extra long tournaments would turn out too repetitive.

I think you should get rid of the early bird chips and just have a standard 4k starting stck. Last week I came in in the middle of the first hand and was at a massive disadvantage to the table. It probably discourages people to go, if you're not theer on time there's no point in going.

The standard at this is actually very poor imo.

If there is 100% payout plus 300euro added every night plus entry into free 5000euro tournament in December how can it be a waste of money?

This is a poor value tournament for the simple reason that there's little play in it, the blind increase too fast for any reasonable play.
    Do the maths!

    ?

    Relax....

I have never played in the tourney but the cash games are good. Since most peope want NL cash, this place I think is the only casino that i know of near Dublin that does them. Standard is terrible aswell.

Stick to the cash games if they suit you better then? We have tried a few formats for the tournaments and this one seems to be working the best. We regret that we cannot meet everyones needs, we have just chosen the format which has proved most successful.

What I can make of it is that most of the people that don’t like it haven't tried it :) and Phantom lord, since you arrived a little late it sounds like you already made your mind up about your mood and to me that really puts me off my game if i don't have the right mindset.

Maybe there should be a 15-20 min "fashionably late bird" stack of 3,400 but defiantly don’t get rid of the early bird as it would make people slack about there time and since its a fast enough tournament people should be there from the first hand.

I actually like the faster play in this tournament ... guess its kind of a different strokes for different folks but I DEFINITLY wouldn't knock it till I tried it.

I was chatting to the owner fella the last time and he seems really sound and basically was saying the structure of the game and the blinds has changed over time to suit what the players want, if everyone that went to it said they liked a different style then I’m sure they would change it to suit there customers (doubt they would change it for anyone who hasn’t even gone n tried it yet haha). But from the 3-4 times I’ve been there so far it seems like the majority of players like the structure.

And yea I agree with phanton lord that the added cash and the free tournament is amazing, wish all casinos were as generous with giving away free money :) I might be able to afford a better car if they did haha. Keep up the good work

    Still finished in the money...

Getting 75% of everyone elses starting stack is a bit extreme imo.

The reason why everyone wants it to go quickly, is so the cash games can start. Nothing wrong with that. But it's just that the people who want to play a tournament suffer.

    Who could disagree... :)

I'm not a regular in the club nor have I played in any of these tournaments. I'd give the club 10/10 on most aspects, but there are two grievances I would have.

    1. Inconsistency between dealers. Especially regarding the policy on missed blinds . I've witnessed several arguments over various rulings and it seems to me the majority [of players] rules.

    2. I've seen several arguments which have become quiet hostile and this is due, in my opinion, to people being allowed in with too much drink on board. I know Frank dosn't take any messing but I think the door policy could be slightly more strict.
