Help!!! Cannot get video through composite

I have installed a Hauppauge PVR-150 MCE card in my pc.
I can get it to pick up analogue tv through the coax but I can't get anything through the RCA/composite where I intend to connect my sky box.
Has anyone else had this issue?
    Am I doing something stupid?
At this point I'm beginning to think that the card is faulty but it comes with so little info that I am not sure.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Step 1 - update drivers.

Step 2 - make sure MCE is up to date via Windows Update.

Step 3 - double check connections to Sky box, the scart adaptor is set to output ?

Step 4 - use the mouse and select composite when detecting the type of connection and click scan again sometimes it will pick it up even if it didn't the first time.

    Thanks for the reply 8T8.
I'm pretty sure that I have ticked all those boxes, but I was pretty tired last night so I'll doublecheck this evening.

i had a funny problem with a pvr150..i had it setup..could not get anything on the svideo input from my sky box. had a new case i wanted to put setup in, so decided to do that before troubleshooting pvr card. put it in new case, voila, everything worked.

cannot explain it to this day..i made sure it was connected correctly in the old case and everything, but nothing could get it working..

doesn't help much, but maybe you could try pulling the card and trying it in another slot in your motherboard?

    Thanks Mossym.
I meant to try that last night but didn't get a chance.
I did see a similar report on a web forum that worried me a bit as they had the same system board as me. They also moved it to another system and it worked fine.
It wasn't a Gigabyte K8N system board you had the problem with by any chance was it?

    wasn't a k8n, but was a gigabyte..

note i just moved the whole motherboard over to the new case...the only thing that really changed was the power supply...

    Hmmmmm.
I'll try the other slot tonight so anyway.
    Fingers crossed.

    Schoolboy error.
I was using a unidirectional scart connector.
    Getting video now! :D

    Thanks lads.

I can test this tonight so I'm just being lazy, but on the PVR-150 does anyone know if I can connect an arial to the tuner and my sky box to the composite at the same time?
I assume that I can't record or view them at the same time, but could I use them alternately?

you should be able to, as you said you won't be able to reord one and watch another, but both should work on their own

    Nice one.

You can only watch one at a time. If recording you can only watch what you are recording.

The main issue you will have is mixing sources from RF and Composite

Yeah thats cool. Just wasn't sure if they'd conflict somehow. As long as I can have both connected and record off both at different times I'm happy.

Not sure what you mean by this. What issues exactly?

mediaportal will allow you to set the input source for each channel individually. It's a pain in the ass having to set it when all your channels are coming from the came source, but it is very handy in a situation like this

Can Windows MCE not do this?

Nope not as far as I'm aware MCE is the easiest path to a media centre program but it lacks many of the more exotic features in other programs that come in handy in situations like you mention.

There are some very elaborate hacks I think for messing with multiple guides and inputs but I never really looked into it myself The Green Button would be the place to check.
