Anyone using a widescreen for gaming. Have the option to buy one form work for about 225-230. Its a 19" iqon, not sure about stats coz I haven't had a chance to go through the details on it yet as in connections etc.

The thing that sucks about BF2142 is that resolutions reach only as far as 1024x768. It looks kinda stretched on my 17' widescreen. You would defo expect a flashy new game such as BF2142 to have proper res support...

I was checking some guys website last night and he reckoned not many, even new games where supporting proper widescreen format. Do u get an extra wide view like some scrennies I have seen. As in extra details at side that u wouldnt see on noral size screen.

I don't think you do, as they think it would be an unfair advantage if you could see more than the other guy.

My 19" supports 1280x1024, I play everything in that mode.
Except 2142, I only get support for up to 1280x960, but it looks fine.

Can you not manually set the res in properities of the launch icon?

With some engines yes, but not properly with the battlefield engine.

Here are some threads on wide screen gaming forums about it.

You think they care? You could always target further in BF2 the higher resolution you went to. So people who could only manage 1024 were getting targeted by someone with a 1600 res seconds before they even saw them.
