    hi
i would like to take up a martial art for self defence but a concern i have is from a head injury i suffered about 10 years ago. is there a class out there that can prepare me for handling an attack (from fist or weapon) and can limit the amount of blows i would take to the head?

I would imagine if you made it clear to instructor(s) that you shouldnt take head strikes that any decent club would be ok. Theres plenty of good clubs represented on this forum. Take your pick :)

The clubs I train in are:

    www.rathdownkenpo.com

    and

    www.mmaireland.com

Tell the teacher as Dave says, and a good teacher wil protect you!

In addition to informing all instructors, as well as students you work out with (no head contact!), you may want to ensure that you wear a helmet during any practice that might result in an accidental contact to the head? You may want to consult with a master instructor regarding the selection of this MA helmet?

What kind of head injury was it?
