    Quick question:

    Anyone ordered from them before?

What's the story with delivery? They only deliver within Germany, but can deliver to a shipping company...?

AC-FOTO Handels GmbH only delivers orders only within Germany. Orders to other countries are processed in cooperation with a forwarding agent. With one click you can easily and conveniently instruct the Pick Up Service GmbH to pick up and ship your order to you. Click here for the Pick Up Service shipping costs calculator.

Alternatively you can also instruct a shipping service of your choice to pick up and deliver the ordered items. Please agree upon the accruing costs with the shipping company of your choice. Please note that we will charge you a flat rate of EUR 20,00 for the packaging and handling of your ordered items. Please also note that the delivery costs charged by your chosen shipping service will be on your own expense.

Aye, I saw that, that's why I'm asking - but is it just like normal shipping or what? Is it included in the preliminary price?

Thats simply a rip off. €20 for packaging and another 25-30 for postage/delivery.

There are loads of german suppliers as cheap and as good or better than Ac-foto. I'd highly recomment D24net.de, friendly, honest about stock levels, super fast and postage is €20-25 thats it.

Try the compare sites. there are many, for example,

    idealo.de
    presvergleich.de

Do check stock levels before ordering though.

    Hi,

I have purchased the following items form them -

Sigma 12-24mm (surberb piece of kit)
Sigma 24-70 F2.8 (waste of money ... thouhg it may redeem itself when I get it back read on for reasons ...)
Canon 50mm F1.8 (It is illegal for a Canon body owner to be without without this lens)
Filters for all of the above ...

I found their prices at the time to be better than others ... shipping was a little high but it was not an issue for the overall price ...

I would recommend them ... they ship is via what the Germans call "pick up service" ... at a guess I'd say this is a literal translation from German (which often loses meaning) .... It appears to be what we call that courier ... i.e. DHL ... you do not pick anything up the courier does ... and then delivers to you ...

If I had any criticism it would be their delaying my entire original order because the 50mm was out of stock ... total time from order to delivery was 3 weeks ... should have been 1 ... they were very apologetic ... when contacted they replied within 1 day or so ...

I have recently shipped the 24-70mm to Cork for warranty adjustment of a front focus problem .. cost €14 ... Hahnel industries in Bantry are great ... I did not involve AC-foto in this and I do not blame them for the problem with the goods ... Sigmas quality problems are well known ... they will return it Monday ... via courier ... at Sigmas cost ...

    Still a rip off.

They charge € 20 Euro packing to non-German deliveries only!.

Tbh though...I'm still saving about...700 quid.

For a kit that I can't seem to get anywhere else for near the price...

Thats what you pay for, UPS, Fedex etc are very expensive. You can expect to quite a pretty penny for prompt delivery.
I usually pay about €55 for P+P from Hong Kong, plus about another €30 for insurance, that's €85 extra. But I get my new stuff in 3 days all the way from the far east.
Komplett charge me a tenner and it takes their stuff a wekk to get here from their depot here in Europe.

You get what you pay for, and shipping companies are no exception.

    Cheaper than whom?

Tell me what your ordering and I'll try and beat it, and from a reputable supplier in europe

    Cheaper than Onestop Digital.

Getting a Canon 5d body with battery grip. :)

2,568, add 46 for P&P, bearing in mind the 300 cashback.

Hey Fajitas ... can't wait to have a play with the new toy ... make sure you bring it along to my place on the 5th ...

Something you probably already know but just in case ... I think (and I could be wrong here, so do check) the Cashback only applies when you buy something else ... not a problem ... I'll be getting my 5d plus either the 17-40 F4L or 16-35 F2.8L in the New Year ... perhaps we can do a deal ;)

Speaking from a personal point of view - when you are spending well over €1000 on kit then a few Euro here and there means nothing when compared to buying from a reputable vendor... you have two recommendations for ac-foto both from people who have actually made a purchase, I would tend to ignore challenges about beating the price unless the person involved is recommending something from personal experience ... all vendors have different approaches to pricing for shipping some are cheaper then others ... overall what really matters it total price and pre/post sales service ... I have only 1 small complaint about ac-foto in this respect as I said to you the other night ...

Oh, and one thing I did not say is that once ac-foto shipped my kit it took only 3 days to arrive ... so if it is in stock you are laughing ... be sure to check first though ... their online system showed the 50mm F1.8 as in stock when I purchased it ... they are very responsive to questions and queries ... much quicker than technik direct ... who I have also used ...
