Sorry for the probably dumb questions but I don't understand even half of the info on this board...if you wouldn't mind helping me out.

I just got sky+ and multiroom installed in my newly built house. When the installers came out I wasn't aware that there were wired tv points inthe living room (they were behind a blank socket: i thought they were inactive phone points), so the installer just started drilling holes in the wall and ran cables down the outside wall from the dish. I didn't know where I wanted the tv to go so he just picked a corner and wired it up. Its not where I now want it though so my first question is this:
Can I extend the cable length somehow so I can have the box on the other side of the room? I don't mind running it around the skirting board. What would I buy to do this and is it a simple thing to do, ie no splitting wires or anything? (this is for the sky+ box)
    My second question is this..
I want to have a tv in the bedroom but I don't want to get a third box from sky (I have multiroom in the den already). Are those wireless video senders any good? I realise I would have whatever programme is on downstairs on but thats fine. Can you recommend a good one that wouldn't cost too much? Is there any other option you can suggest?

I would really appreciate any advice you experts can provide.. I am a total novice!:o
    Thank you in advance
    Jay.

You can extend the cables with some more F connectors (these are the screw on connectors that's used for satellite) and a couple of F couplers (aka F barrels) to "join" the cables. Use CT100 cable or equivalent for extending.

For advice on wiring an F connector see Here

Other info that may be of use can be found on the ICDGopedia

I'm not too informed on video senders, personally not a big fan of them. I prefer to use cable connection from the RF2 port on Skybox to feed other TV coupled with the TVlink to change channels.

If the video sender has a good signal and is not upseting WiFi or getting upset by wifi, then it is better than RF2 as it is FM video not AM Video and two channel sound instead of mono. But if there is any interference issues with video sender, then RF2 is better (but mono for Sky output).

Do these wireless video senders allow you to change channel?

Yes. But not with NTL Digital set boxes. Use your existing remote. A little IR LED module is at the TX end and fires IR light at your source box. But it may also change if your neighbour has one too.

I have done a similar thing myself recently. Initially I bought a wireless digisender from Argos (AEI Plun N Go). It was OK at first, but gradually the picture on the second tv got worse and worse and the remote control functionallity became more intermittent. I tried and tried to find out what was causing the interference with no luck, so I eventually returned the thing to Argos and bought some co-ax cable and a tv link remote eye. I took a bit of time to suss out how to connect from the rf 2 output on the Sky box via our house's internal wiring, but with help from people of these boards I did it over the weekend. I must say the quality of the picture and remote functionallity is far superior using the cabled method, if you can do it. Overall the cost of the two was about the same, but the wireless digisender I bought was one of the cheaper ones in Argos, may be if I'd have spent more the quality would have been better?

    I hope this helps.
