Garda guilty of €700 theft in Sligo

The jury in the case of a garda charged with stealing €700 which was handed into Sligo Garda Station has found him quilty.

27-year-old Garda James Lavelle of Old Quay Court, Sligo, had denied taking the money which had been lost by a woman in Sligo Cemetery in August 2004.

He is to be sentenced in January.
