Should I buy this HDD PLAYER /RECORDER

I have been looking for a way to retire my Video recorder without having to by a DVD Recorder/HDD Machine and I have found the item below:

BARU 3.5" HDD Digital Video PLAYER /RECORDER ,RECORD DV / TV AND DVD, to your DVR with timing ,play movies, music and photos on your TV ,Support CF , SD MMC card

I think it ticks all the boxes for what I want:
Archieve DVD's to a Hard Disk
Record direct from the TV to Hard Disk
Record from the output of my NTL Digital.

My main concern is that it records to 640 x 480, is that too low a quality to watch back on my tv (32 inch CRT) ?

I also like the fact that is takes 3.5 inch Hard Drives so that gives me cheaper higher capacity options for what hard disk I put into the machine.
SD Card Reader is nice to review pictures from the digital camera.

Also they are offereing to put a 160gb disk in for an extra £27, seems good value to me.

Any suggestions of questions for the seller or if you can let me know of any reason I shouldn't buy this I would appreciate it.

    Cheers

    Cionn

for a start, archiving dvds to a 160gig drive is only going to get you about 16-17 dvds before it is full...that;s if you don't record anythign or store anything on it.

640*480 is the resolution american (ntsc) is recorded at. It should be fine. I'd be more worried about what compression ratio they are using.they say mpeg4, which should be okay, for a given bitrate you'll get better than mpeg2

and 600g will hold 700 hours of movie? that is some serious compression going on there..
