I can't find the thread but I know someone was looking for this recently. I picked up a bottle in Sweeney's off licence in Phibsborough last night. I haven't has this in years and it really is very nice :) A much nicer 'malt' lager than Sam Adams in my book.

I recall the thread. I directed the person looking for Brooklyn Lager to Sweeney's in Phibsboro. I agree that it is maltier and generally tastier than Sam Adams. I was lucky enough to spend an evening on draught Brooklyn Lager in New York last winter. A very pleasant evening.

Yeah it was me! I lived in NYC for a good while and the Brooklyn Brewery Beers were a big favourite. In one of those weird coincidences the next time I stopped in to Redmonds of Ranelagh they had it in the fridge - along with a big selection of the Sam Adams range including their latest Brewmaster Collection - 'Black Lager' which was interesting

I also much prefer the Brooklyn Lager to Sam Adams.

Is it widely available on draught in NYC? I was there in autumn of last year and never thought to seek it out. It would be good to know where to get it as we'll probaby make a trip next year. Is their brewery worth a visit?

Their lager is available in draught in alot of Bars sometimes as the main lager. The others like brooklyn weisse show up in a alot of 'Beer' Bars.

I never made it over to their brewery but they do a happy hour event on Fridays that is supposed to be great. Across the road is Mugs Alehouse that has a great selection and runs monthly homebrew meetings where brewers bring there own beers to share and taste.

Yeah - mostly I miss having a Local Homebrew Shop to browse around

Yep, you can get it in Redmonds in Ranelagh alright. It's rediculously over-priced, though. So it's only a speshul treat for me.

The malty taste brings back memories of amazing nights out in New York. One of my favourite beers.

Pop Brooklyn Lager trivia: the logo and labels were designed by world famous American graphic designer, Milton Glaser. He invented

Yes it is but that is the case with most imported beer that is brought in on a small scale. The more mass market beers are normally imported in huge quantities which brings its own economy of scale.

My favourite bar in manhatten for specialty beers on tap was The Blind Tiger in SoHo.

just looked them up - they've moved to a bigger location in the Village.
