Thinking of getting a dedicated flash for my Nikon .
    The SB 600 .
I can pick them up on ebay for 200 euros , from Hong Kong , which is about a 100 cheaper than in Dublin.
Feedback on store is good , just wondering , will the flash be the same as the one you buy here , i.e are the SB 600 flashes standard throughout the world ?

Would i have to pay duty ? or is this just luck ?

I have yet to pay duty, but I imagine it's down to luck. I've just bought a Canon 580ex from HK and it's the same the world over. I'll have it tomorrow morning touch wood.
I'd hazard a guess that the flashes from Nikon are likewise standardised.

I would assume its a standard model world over. I bought bits & pieces in the past but the deal with the seller was he paid the VAT which he did (I paid for it and he refunded it within a few days).

I think it will be pure pot luck as to whether you get caught for import tax etc so be prepared to pay it. If you dont have to then its a bonus.

Be very sure that the seller is legit and that if he asks for Western Union then forget about it. Be prepared is all that we can tell you, regardless of where its delivered or if someone tells you to mark gift on it.

Sounds ok to me , but i suppose you can never be 100 % .
Not sure how much import tax would be ?
i was planning to get it sent to work .

LOL - A flash(Nikon SB 800) was the only thing I HAD to pay duty on from HK  (Probably cos it was sent by FEDEX)

Can't remember exactly but I still made a saving although it was small enough considering if anything went wrong with it the warranty is probably useless over here, the cost of sending it back to HK would wipe out the savings.

Got a couple of lenses in no problem.

    Why ?

Also , does anyone know will VAt be added on to the price advertised on EBay -- i assumed it will only be the price adverstised along with the cost of shipping and thats it !

    Cheers.

I actually bought flash in Dublin second hand , but now thinking of getting a 18 - 70 lens for my Nikon d50 , 200 euros from ebay Hong Kong .
I assume the lens are standard and there is no issue with autenticity and fitting on my Nikon d 50 body .
    Feedback is 99% positive.

2 questions , if i ordered today would i get lens by Christmas ?
What are the chances of paying additional duty or tax ?
    Thanks.
