    A bit of a surprise that one, considering History would have to show a lot of archive footage, which wouldn't have been recorded in HD!

    Footage in the past would have been recorded on film, which has a much better resolution and quality than most digital recording.

    AFAIK It is broadcast in HD which sends a much better, less compressed signal to your HD TV than standard digital signal.

    That's a myth, the compression on HD is actually higher.... the artifacts proportionately the same at same pixels size.
