    Change the screen resolution

Control panel > display > just change it to whatever the max is. probably 1024*768

I think this is what you mean

If that doesn't work, reinstall the video card drivers.

I installed Xp on a firends laptop and the laptop screen native res wasn't supported. So res was wrong. So all I had to do was install the latest video drivers

Ok Cheers. The highest resolution for the screen is 800 x 600 I think. It doesn't go any higher then that.

Thats too low. Unless its an ancient machine, you've not got the right and/or latest drivers installed.

it was running 98, so it could be old.

Is there generic drivers out there or do I need specific drivers?

And also, where can i get the drivers. I have no internet connection at home so I'll have to download them to a memory stick.

Well you can get them from the Laptop Mnaufacturers site or the Video Card makers site. Whats the make and model of the laptop?
