Sky Sports now resizing 4:3 feeds to 16:9?

Watching Steaua Bucharest vs Real Madrid now on Sky Sports Xtra.

Looks like they're converting the 4:3 feed to 16:9. It's not just a simple zoom, and it's not just stretching it either, it's a bit of both, and maybe other techniques being used too.

I'm fairly sure they were doing the same for Croatia vs England from Zagreb last week.

It's a shame if it is true, as it means no-one (with either 4:3 or 16:9 TV) will be able to view these games at the right aspect ratio, no matter what settings they use on their TV.

    Anyone else notice this?

Maybe it's to do with whoever they're getting their pictures from. There does appear to be some distortion alright.

I thought that it just might have been the Croatian TV supplying 16:9 pictures, but now this game from Romania is "16:9" too.

Sky must be getting frustrated with getting 4:3 supply pictures whenever there's a foreign game.

Although I see they're only supplying RTE with 4:3 pictures for the Celtic game, even though it's in 16:9 on Sky Sports 2....

Yes, and how come RTE can't synchronise the sound and video?
You have George Hamilton telling you of a great save about 2 seconds before it is visible on screen.
