Ok, looking through shots from a few years back I found this one. I'm not sure if its the photograph I like or whether my opinion is highly influenced by the content - its an amazing piece of sculpture.

Defo agree the sculpture is an amazing piece of work

As for the picture, I would crop it a bit to the sides etc so that the sculpture fills the picture a bit more.

indeed its nice...but due to the content rather than the photograph...maybe some sort of sepia or something to make it a bit more unusual...colours seem a bit bland, nice all the same tho

lovely subject & yeah ..... maybe a bit of a crop might help.

I thought about the crop and played about with it but as a photo I felt the space around him was important. If it was a stronger piece maybe it would work with filling the shot with him more.

I'll probably never get it sorted but something doesnt sit with me.

I agree about the space, it adds dimesion to the image, spacifically the three corners all leading in towards the statue.

What's missing? I think the lighting is just a bit low, his face & chest (the focus of this pic) are in shadow. The depth of field could be improved to really make the statue stand out. Maybe abit of fill-in flash would have helped.

    Cheers for the feedback guys.

bw, you're dead right on the lighting - its something I should have concidered more when taking the shot. I have to confess I rushed it.
