I recently got my travel insurance from ace travel insurance. www.acetravelinsurance.ie

A years worldwide travel insurance including winter sports cover is only €71.00..

What does that actually cover you for though? eg. Loss of baggage/money?

I'm also looking for some decent insurance! :)

I just found flightsearchers.ie, and they're saying around E77 for 93 days worldwide travel, with baggage and money cover, but no wintersports or anything (won't be doing them in Thailand!)

Anyone know what exactly we should be checking with relation to insurance?

If you are with VHI, they have global travel insurance.

Well, I am going to new york in 3 weeks and I have heard that if something happens to you over there and you dont have travel insurance the ambulance won't even bother coming for you! I know that health care is quite expensive in the states so

The insurance that I got covers me for health cover up to €5 million, missed flights, loss of money/cards and my family will get around €30,000 if I die!

Make sure that you are covered for everything and you are not getting ripped off..

If you log onto acetravelinsurance.ie you can read their cover policy and it tell you all you need to know about what they offer..

Just be aware that there is excess on all these policies.. Mine is €75.00..

Check out things like baggage/property cover, single item limits (that expensive camera, for example, might not be covered fully or a laptop etc). Denied boarding is another one, ie how much you can claim if the airline refuses travel because of an overbooked flight (though the airline will usually compensate you for food/accomodation until the next flight).

I'm just starting to look into getting insurance to cover 2 adults and 2 children aged 11 and 9. We're heading to Florida in February (I've booked flights and accommodation separately) and hopefully and one other holiday or couple of short breaks next year.

What sort of cover should I look for that covers families?

I took advise from this thread (http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2054897068&referrerid=&highlight=travel%20insurance) dbnavan's post.

Booked insurance with Accident and General's Fairsure policy. Very good comprehensive cover with NO excess on anything.

    I booked it from here:

that's excellent; my family multitrip is up for renewal, Cornmarket used to do it for €79 but now they no longer do the whole family my over 18's have to be done separately and they quoted me €165 for myself wife and one child!!!
So I tried AA; they did better with €165 for the five of us....
based on what i'm reading here i think i'll keep shopping
