The built in memory is not that much....

That is my only deterrent from getting it.

go for the Supercard Lite + Pass key.

You can then get a a 2gb Micro SD card and get too many games on it. (50+ with room)

    are some games over 512?
but with this its just 1 card and all that pass me crap has **** hanging off ds

I think there is a new type of passme that is the size of a normal game card

I picked up a pass key and super card today along with a gig mini sd card. They all sit flush with the DS (original) plus the super card has rumble... if you like that sorta thing.

The card is 4 gigabit = 512 megabyte

the normal DS cards to the best of knowledge can hold a max of 1 gigabit

many commercial games don't use nearly this amount, but if they did, you could theoretically fit 4 of them on the card (assuming you owned the originals of course).

The lads over at gbatemp.net posted a review of the 4Gbit (512mb) version of the DS-Xtreme. (Lots of closeup pics of card and interface).

2 downsides for me - the very exposed USB port (would have been nicer on the side of the card, hidden from view), and the capacity.

Plus sides - full DS to DS compatability (without having to flashme the target DS), drag and drop from explorer, the menu is very cool looking, and the price is reasonable (€100-ish).

Release an 8Gbit version and I'd get it in a heartbeat.

    (Edit-Fixed Sizes)

Sorry, damn sizes confused me.... I should have said 8Gbit (1gig).

can someone give me a run down on how these things work?

i would like to get one if you can play old games, but have no idea how

can someone explain it to me or link me to somewhere that explains it brilliantly?

    cheers

The one major drawback of flashcards is that they result in poorer battery performance compared with original games. Its not unusual for them to cut the battery life in two.

Haven't seen the performance of the DS-xtreme in this regard yet, but its worth bearing in mind.

Did anyone get one yet? I'm pretty interested, as the other ways of playing homebrew just don't appeal (passme keys and sd cards, etc). I doubt I'd need more than 4gB at any one time, so this solution really attracts me.

someone explain this, bit and GB thing.
if ur using a backup and its 512mBIT would that fill up all of the 4gb ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,503 ✭✭✭Makaveli

No, but if it was 512MByte it would.

    8 bits in a byte.

    Capital B = byte, Small b = bit

    512Mb = 64MB

Yeah thats sort of the wya I was but I got a 1GB microSD to start with and I've filled it with music.

DSOrganize MP3 player is great. I stopped using my iPod now. Better battery life on DS and touch screen controls so it's easy to select the song you want. Also when open it plays through the speakers so you can use it as a stereo (with terrible speakers) if over at a friends house etc...
