    Hey Guys,

The reason for the heading is that we are in a bit of a 'piggy in d middle' between solicitors & The land registry.

Basically we bought a house in May, & are still waiting to close this deal as of today, reason is we found out that the lady with whom we are buying the house from never registered her details with the land registry. She did not know about this as this should have been done by her solicitor. So for the last say 3 months her solicitor has been telling our solicitor that she is dealing with this issue. We have been in-undating her with calls, faxes, emails etc even the auctioneer himself has been calling her everyday, it seems like shes never going to crack & give us a proper answer.

My question is can i call the land registry & find out if she has registered the house??

It seems to all of us is that she is just waiting for The land registry to register the owner of the house & until she hears back she is just fobbing all of us off.

I'd like to know what people think of this situation, is it the norm when buying a house etc??

We are first time buyers & are really anxious to close the deal as is the owner of the house.

Thanks in advance for any advice :)

You can pop into them and look at maps figure out where the land is and pay them for the portfolio.

They've offices in Dublin (about 4 offices I think) and Waterford with different sections having different counties.

They have a web based service which alot of solicitors have access to

AFAIK the obligation to register with the Land Registry depends on the County that the property is sold. It is not a statutory requirement in every county. You should call into their office - behind the Four Courts. They are very helpful.

Depends on where the office is. Some of the counties have moved down to the country to Waterford or Wexford or some sh!t.

Also some of the other counties are spread across Dublin.

The Land Registry for a large part of the country is based in Setanta House off Nassau Street. It's one of the office blocks in behind the Celtic Note record shop. You can ask to see a map and it should show up there. e2.50 a pop
