Anyone check out the new channel five channels, presume they cannot be gotten on fta but makes getting ftv card all the more attractive.
Question: can u use an ftv card in any box with card slot or must it be a shy box

You need a Sky Digital box or Sky+ or SkyHD. (The Sky+ and SkyHD only record with a recording rental).

Given current overall popularity of Five, I find it hard to believe that these channels will make FTV card ("Freesat from Sky") a best seller.

I had a brief look yesterday.

The channels look to be on a par with Channel 6. 'Nuff said.

    Details here.

Ooh, I forgot about these channels. Five US is on UK EPG 207, with Five Life on 208. Currently it's showing a countdown to launch timer with clips from Happy Days etc. I notice plenty of CSI lined up for tonight on Five US although the channel closes at 1am!

I don't think Life will have anything of interest to me though US may.

Five US is now on the air, found it at just 3:50 to go on the clock.

Aye, caught what I presume to be the first episode of CSI.

Or NI/UK subscription. Yes you need a FTV card.

I have read elsewhere that technically it's possible to use a FTV card in an NDS cam (Dragon) but a bit tricky and not worth the effort.

Haven't heard of any card slots patched though.

Watty's advice is best. Get a cheap digibox.

Or indeed on a PC. But it is not for fainthearted and may not work tomorrow.

The Sky Box does not need tuned and supports EPG and Interactive services. This is why as well as two non-Sky Digital receivers and several PC with Satellite Receiver I also have two Sky digiboxes.
