As you go North on the M1 just north of the Lissenhall Junction ,there is a layby type slip road with a barrier at the northern end.

    I never saw anything,anybody, using,abusing,stopping,working in it,around it,beside it,inside it or outside it!!

What the fook is it for?????????

It's for setting up a mobile weighbribge for trucks to ensure that they are complying with the statutory weight limits. There's another conventional type one nearby on the dual carriageway (R132-old N1) just south of the Statoil station.

Another near Midelton on the N25 westbound I think.

And two dedicated ones on the N7.

One outbound just before Kill and one inbound at Baldonell. Both used regularly.

Obviously, the lads on the M1 are a bit slack, because Ive never seen it being used either.

Hmmm... presume they will be putting in scales sometime soon... 2010-2012 perhaps??

She's lying fallow for the last 4 years.

It's a mobile 'weighbridge' but it's not a vehicle. It consists of a series of electronic pads. You drive your truck in and they place the pads in front of each wheel. You then drive forward onto the pads and the machine calculates the truck's weight.

?????? That section of the M1 opened in June 2003. The layby for the weighbridge was constructed a good while after the motorway opened!!!

    Jaysus..

There I was tooling up the M1,just north of the Lissenhall Interchange when I seen it!!!.. sorry, saw it.Big lorry pulled in just at the yoke we are talking about, time 1050.Wow! says I to myself,we'll see this fcuker in action right now,Il'l be on boards tonight giving the real lowdown on what its for.

Pssssssssssssst.... Just a truck pulled in front of it with a dude having a sambo.

I took a good look at the "thing",weeds growing out of it ,unkept ,unused, even the exit seems too small for a big truck??

    I remain in puzzlement mode
