Hi,

Looking for some feedback to what date you all feel is best for the next deep stack tournament. The poker room is unavailable until midnight on Saturday 4th November as it was booked in advance for a different event. Some people have already stated that they can’t play on the 4th as they are playing a team event at the Fitz and I think it would be unfair to "Connie" at the Cue Club to hold the event on the 11th as their winter festival is on that weekend.
I’m sure most players will want to support that event.

I suggest that for this month we hold the tournament either on Friday 3rd or Sunday 4th November.

Sorry about the inconvenience but this is completely out of my control. Please let me know your thoughts.

On another note our first “Super Satellite” for the European Poker Masters DUBLIN ALL-STAR CHALLENGE is on Tuesday 17thOctober. The buy in is €150+15 with 1 Re-Buy or Top Up. Tournament start time is 8:30pm the club will be open from 6pm for single table satellites to qualify for this game.
For more information go to
www.thesportingemporium.com
Full Tilt gear will be up for grabs at this event!

Again my apologies that the monthly game can't be on the 4th, I hope that we can come up with an acceptable alternative that suits most people.

John.

What we need is a poll. I think you could have started one when you started your thread.

Perhaps one of the mods can set up a thread with options.

When do you want to play the Sporting Emporium / boards.ie tourney ?
4th November
11th November

Any date would suit me but more importantly will there be any changes to the structure?. If it regressed from last time i dont think i'd go.

The maintenance of the structure is vital. Therefore, maybe the tourney can begin on the Friday evening and remaining players come back on the Sunday to finish it off. I think there was a general consensus for a two day - event with the same structure on another thread, and as such I cannot see any other way that you can have a two day event on that weekend if the cardroom is unavailable on the Saturday.

Tweaking the structure to make it less than it was should not really be a consideration and while such an eventuallity may stop some players from outside Dublin playing this month it is a better alternative to cancelling the game altoghether.

My two cents...:)

Why not move it to the 18th and keep it as the 3rd Saturday of the month from now on, that is usally a quiet weekend on the tourney front and it would make a good replacement for the 300 event that used to be held in the SE.

Also, Friday and coming back a Sunday is a bad idea, your asking people to commit to a weekend and hanging around the Saturday thinking about the game, also it wont suit people travelling.

The 11th is a bad date for me personally.

the SE has the EPM on the 18th and 19th of November i think... i'd suggest s STRICT 6pm start, same structure as before, same buy in as before, this once have it on fri, with FT on sun, and then from then on first sat of every month,

I think that this is the best option, if it is available.....

I don't think players from outside of Dublin would mind coming back up on the Sunday if they knew they were in for a good payday...

Having it on the 3rd would suit me down to the ground.

I like the 3rd, if you move it out to the 3rd week of Nov, you are getting uncomfortably close to the next one

don't have the FT on the Sunday though, a break of 36 hours is not a good idea imho

If it was on the Sunday, you should be able to get away with an earlier start time, maybe 2oc. You should get finished up that day. Also, run a smaller buy-in game that evening for players out of the main event.

You gotta work within the rules of the place Lenny. SE doesn't open until 6pm!

There is no way even with the best will in the world this game can start any earlier than 6.30.

If it was me I'd decide on a weekend and run with it permanently. I'd have the start on a Saturday at 6.30 pm and the FT on Sunday from 6.30 pm with a €100 double chance game on a Sunday night kicking off at 7.00pm for onlookers.

The third weekend of the month seems good for the reasons stated earlier.

Organising poker games and trying to use consensus is a recipe for disaster and this is true for both home games and games in a casino. If a guy or gal wants to travel up for the game communicate in advance the structure and the playing times and let him/her make their minds up.

I also think the SE should get active advertising this game and try to get some more fish to the menu. I think the regular Tuesday sat game should have feeder tickets for this game. It didn't feel good being the only donator at my table.

This really has to be the way it works. Decie on a set weekend and stick with it. Also, as Olly says, you gotta promote this big. 6.30 sat and 6.30 Sun sounds good to me. This will work at 70+ people a month (easy) if it settles on a date and the structure remains good.
