Great shots. 2, 3 and 4 are the faves.
Especially the movement on the last one.

Second one for me too!! Great work :)

    Thanks all!

They have to be good, was supposed to be following the tour today in Waterford, but was wrecked, and really feiced my knee up (And er...left some rather important bits and bobs in Dubh Linn).

But from what I can see, these'll do grand.

    I hope.

I think the first one is a cool shot, don't know how much a band would like it.
I reckon there's too much red in the second shot, could you not have brought the red curve down a bit? Maybe even try a conversion.

3 is pretty cool alright, the motion works well I reckon.

4 sorry doesn't do anything for me.

I wouldn't mind critique like this, you don't even need it, you're MORE than capable of flying solo!! :P

    Thanks Rojo & Paudie! :)

I know there's too much red, the lighting in Dorann's is horrible. (Even with a Custom White Balance set to the red light), it burnt out horrible amounts of detail, so I'm left with horrible grey patches in my B&W conversions!

Nice shots ... particularly the second last one ...

what did you use to take 'em ?

    300D w/a Sigma 30mm 1.4, at 1.4 the whole time!

    No flash fired.

Post processing was a case of curves and some background burning, with a bit of unsharp mask to finish it off!

    Really love the first one.

oh a 30mm 1.4...you lucky thing you, if only i had the money. first class shots as ver fajitas, crisp and great movement.red lights suck indeed, i had the same problem with my gig, kinda suited the bands luckily tho.

    #2 is my fav.
Composition on them all is impressive!

Red lights should be banned :-)

I've had problems exposing red with my 300D as well, and in my case it was just red flowers in bright conditions. The 300D histogram is luminosity only, so it's averaged across all colours, and I've found that even when things look well exposed on the histogram, sometimes when opened in the raw converter one channel has been blown. Unfortunately I don't think there's any way to avoid this other than be very conservative with exposure, but with low light/high ISO conditions, there lies noise :(

Canon have addressed this with the 400D, which now has an RGB histogram.

The first and second are my favourites. I really really like them! you can barely even see in doran's at gigs so well done for actually getting some really decent shots
