Hiya guys, long time lurker etc etc.

I've finally taken the plunge and picked up a DSLR. Got a Nikon D70 third hand off the adverts board and I'm delighted with it.

I was really into photography as a teenager (had a crappy Pentax SLR) and then did a little bit in college but somehow lost interest. I've been foaming at the mouth to get back into it recently, since I started messing round with Photoshop and seeing how it could improve the snaps I'd taken with my point and shoot. My grandad was a photographer for the Irish Independent and my Uncle was a prof photographer until he retired recently so it's definitely in the blood.

anyways, sorry for rambling, I went out and took just over 100 pictures over the last two days and have put up my fav 12 up on a flickr set:

Here's a reduced size of my current fav:

taken at Malahide Castle this morning.

Some of them aren't that great, esp the rose one, which is pretty lame. Still, I hope I can contribute some good 'uns in the future.

    cheers!

Welcome to the board. Looks like you are getting used to the D70. The one you posted above is nicely captured. Deep_blue from the set of pictures on your flickr is well done also. Taking the plunge into DSLR this Christmas if I'm a good boy. Thanks for sharing.:)

Shot you posted above is very nice!

Only comments would be to clone out the branches in the top right corner and straighten the horizon, but yep, very nice. Kinda reminds me of 6 Feet Under... I'll check out your flickr stream in a sec, I'm Fajitasgtr on it (Suprise suprise :p )
