Bah...I'm really pissed off with Georges St Camera Exchange.

For the past...7 months at least, they've developed and scanned film to 18 meg tiffs for 7 Euro (Or there abouts, there was usually some small change after it, but nothing that would make a huge difference).

I popped in on my way to college this morning, to get 3 rolls developed and scanned. After getting all my details and whatnot, he said "Oh yeah, that comes to a total of €60, prices went up".

    That's 20 quid a roll.

I was shocked. Asked why and he said that the whole process takes too long and they weren't getting enough done in a day.

    That's nearly a 300% increase.

A decent neg scanner costs what? 400 quid? How many films is that?

Should I send an informative email to the manager or what?

(I've given the shop many €€€€'s over the years like)

That's rediculous. I admit, €7 sounds quite cheap, but you can't really support that size of a price hike!

    *cough* digital *cough*

Ah I know digital, but I have several film cameras, and wouldn't see them go to waste!

I know it's an easy way to lose mates, but if a few of ye chipped in ye could get yourselves a neg scanner of your own. We used to do that in college with some of the more expensive gear and books.

I've heard loads of terrible stuff about that place from guys in college.. They keep giving out cn b+w instead of pure b+w, one time he was getting 3, they gave him all cn, he pulled them up on it, then they changed one of them, he said it the second time, they then changed one more, leaving one as cn, he said it yet again.. They were obviously hoping the guy won't notice the difference. Another friend bought a secondhand camera off them, which turned out to be dodgey, the aperture ring was dodgey on the lens or something, brought it back and they just kept fobbing her off. Even one of our tutors was given the wrong chemicals, he was in too much of a rush to notice the difference, then he got where he was going, and had the wrong stuff..

I haven't been there yet, but by the sounds of it, I'm gonna avoid the place!

Yea have had one or two problems along the same lines. the last one was when i went in to buy an Hoya R72 and they tried to fobb me off with a Hama red filter stating "This is the exact same thing" when asked what wavelength it was he looked at me strange. I left walked down the road and ordered it in Conns.

    Seb.
