Have be offered on of these and was thinking of using it for Voipcheap. Did a quick search on the net which came back with some people have problems getting it work properly. While I understand firmwares can solve a lot of problems would appreciate any feed back from anyone using one.

I have one. But I'm figuring out the myteries of NAT, SIP and registration yet. Also the deeper mystery of how to have multiple SIPs behind firewall and WiFi SIP with no stun settings.

I've just set up a voipcheap account on my linksys pap2 as it looks like the smart076 service is slowly going down the toilet. It work's great. I'm just off the phone to a UK landline number and quality is considerably better than Smart's offering.

I do have a couple of questions. If I set up a second account also with the additional voip telephone number are calls to and from those numbers (both voipcheap numbers) free all the time since you're not going out to any POTS network ?

Also, how would I go about calling a user on voipcheap that does not have an inbound number set up using the Linksys PAP2 ?

    Cheers,
    TC

What do you mean about smart076 ?

I recently bought the Siemens C450 combined IP/pstn phone which should obviate the need for my PAP2 - I'll report back when I get it.

I'm not sure what you mean :) Smart, also offer a VOIP Service, albeit a flakey one.

Some VOIP phones have prefix code and then you enter the 12 digit IP address of other party.

Well there was the issue a couple of weeks back where Eircom took all of their lines off line including there VOIP ones, and now since Monday of this week I cannot make calls to analog lines I get a message saying "this number is unavailable". Numerous other people have reported the same issue on their bulletin boards.

So does anyone know if voipcheap to voipcheap numbers over PAP2 are free ?

    TC.

Eircom seems to be blocking various blocks of 076. They work on non-eircom lines (not CPS). It doesn't just affect Smart076

My Smart076 service wasn't effected during the eircom switchoff of Smart.
