My trip from Lucan to Sandyford.

    Distance:15
    Time: 1hour 15 mins
    Average Speed:13m/h

    Could have cycled quicker.

    What about every one else?

    Charlesland (Greystones) to Merrion Square:

    Distance: 32km
    Time: 47 mins
    Average Speed: 40.851 kmh (25.384mph)

But that was based on having left the house at 07:00. Leaving at 7:30 can easily add about 20-30 mins to the trip.

Wicklow town - > Central Park (Leopardstown)
    8 am, 40kms approx 35-50 mins

    Central park -> Wicklow town
    departing 5:45-6:15, 40kms, 30-35 mins

traffic slows down a lot passing bray/kilmac, but after that its 70mph most of the way!

It takes me the same length of time if not quicker to get the bus then Luas to Sandyford. Plus I can have a sleep!

The slowest part of my journey is from St. Stephen's Green to Heuston, a distance GoogleEarth approximates to be 3.3km by road. Journey times on the 92 range from 20 minutes (9.9km/hr) to 45 minutes (4.4km/hr). By footpath, it's about 2.7km, and takes roughly 30 minutes (5.4km/hr).

Now, lets not forget that the 92 leaves every 20 minutes (so they claim), so the average waiting time is 10 minutes. This brings the journey time to somewhere between 30 minutes (6.6km/hr) and 55 minutes (3.6km/hr).

But it's okay, we've got Martin Cullen sorting it all out.

It's threads like this that make me think how glad i am that i live down the country and in a small town rather than a city, plus i drive a bike :)

    Commute to work = 19.7km
    Average travel time = (mon-sat = 17mins) (sun = 13mins)
    Average speed = 115kph and 151kph

No motorways or anything like that just travelling from 1 side of town to the other then primary roads, 1 village and 2 roundabouts between my house and the car park for work :)

Traveling at that speed I hope you get done.

When I see people going that fast, driving dangerously I'm glad I live in a city with low average speed to avoid people like you.

I think 'Eye' meant average speed 69.5kph (mon to sat) and 90.9kph (sun) Hee Hee (at this speed then he would probably be slowing me and others down) Maybe 'Eye' is a "Flanders type personality" unless he meant to say the commute to work was 19.7 miles, then he's a real cheeky brat ;)

Even if that were his average speeds and he states...

that is still too fast. There are probably children in that village. Think about them. People who have no regard for the safety of others make me sick.

I'd love to work from but I'd still probably be late and I'd blame it on the traffic.

    Average speed - varies wildly
Distance is between 6 to 10 miles (usual as direct route is a linear car-park) ( maybe more on fridays )
time 25-70 mins depending on time of day / school holidays / shopping / weekend exodus

Might be farer to quote your average speed on the route you would take if you could, not a longer route that you do take to avoid bottlenecks.

My average speed is about the same as a speedwalker
if I leave late / there is heavy rain then / one accident within a five mile raduis then it drops down to a brisk walk.
