How many songs do you carry on your mp3 player

Having just been on the apple web site looking at the 80gb version of the ipod,

it got me thinking. Do we really need that much space (forgetting about videos

and pictures), how much space do you use up on your ipod. In fact, how many

songs are on your mp3 player.

1 gig of music is about all I ever listen to, much the same 1 gig at all times, I might add /remove about 100 meg of songs every now and again but 1 gig is generally enough for me. I have 14 gig altogether but listen to the other 13 gig feck all.
I mean 80 gig of music at standard quality....how long would it take to listen to the whole selection end to end? A few years?

Ive a crappy 2gb philips Worst mp3 player ever but all i have is about 200 songs coz thats all i ever listen to Tool In flames trivium etc.
I find that people who have like 20gb players just fill them with crap and never listen to most of the stuff. I like to stick mine on random and let it play through without flicking

Listen to on average, about 20 hours of music every 24 hours, my 40GB iRiver is full up and have had to delete albums to fit more on, something I hate to do. Once rockbox is available on the 80GB iPod I'm going to get it. I'll fill it up the day I get it, the whole 80GB, then I'll be complaining it's too small:p

So now I have I think about 7-8 thousand songs on mine but once I get the 80GB, that'll turn to about 15,000.

The thing is, they'll all be listened to!

I only put 2 albums and about 30 mixed tracks on my mp3 player
Always having a huge amount of choice of anything limits its value.

Haha, well I sleep with music so that takes up a good bit of it, and I'll always have music going in the background if there's friends in or whatever, the 4 missing hours would be when I'm somewhere there can't be music.

There's nothing cooler than being able to just leave your MP3 player playing for 2 days straight and not hearing the same song again. I can't stand when people listen to the same song twice in a row:o

No it doesn't. Some people don't like to listen to the same few songs continously. Also, I couldn't be arsed having to rotate the albums on my player every couple of days.

Current fads are catered for by making playlists, when you get tired of those songs everything else is still on there for you to go to. There's nothing more annoying than getting the urge to listen to an album only to find out it's not on the player.

I have a H340 with less than 2GB free I'd say. Really need to sort it out though, there's a lot of albums I need to put on and remove.

    edit - 6,249 tracks.

    I've 35-40GB of music but only have a 2gb nano and 1gb SE K750i.

I go through phases of what I listen to. Could be DJ Bozey Wozey and the like one week and REM the next so I swap around when needed.

I'd only listen to my music a couple of hours a day so it would take me a couple of decades to listen to everything

I listed to the same song about 15 times in a row, it was "on the attack" by dropkick murphys and it went from not being in to my top 20 played to the top!
    so you must hate me!:D

    classic creative zen micro
    62 albums 928 songs

and if you needs lots of storage - even though I know it's a pvp, the archos 504 160GB might be better than the ipod.

I have about 900 albums on my external drive. On my Creative Vision M at the moment I have about 246 albums on it (3068 songs). Though I do also have Seasons 1-3 of Family Guy on it too with approx 5GB left to fill. That will be with more music. :)
