Car rental in Lanzarote

I won't have a credit card going to Lanzarote on holidays. Does anyone know if you can rent a car there without one? I could give them a passport as a deposit, but I know that wouldn't work in Ireland.

    Cheers,

I doubt it. Cabrera Medenas is the main car rental company over there and they ask for a credit card.

Maybe if you try a smaller company, there's plenty of independant ones there, but to be honest, some of the hire cars available don't look particularly roadworthy.

There's not a whole lot that you'd want to see that you can't get to by bus and the Grand Tour organised by your rep covers the whole island in a day. Not very leisurely, but you do see all the sights.

Thanks Mike, I actually found a place around the corner from the Los Pueblos where I was staying hotel in Old Town. They charged me 35 for the day for an Opel Corsa in good nick, and I didn't need a credit card.

I can't remember the name of the place though.

    Thanks again,
