I'm picking up my new bike tomorrow in *****world on the Longmile Road :D

Now my current bike is taxed up to June 07 and I was just wondering if I can get a refund on the tax or transfer it to the new bike.

Also am I allowed to drive it on the road until I get the tax sorted , say for 1 or 2 days ?

legally probably not but its a brand new bike & it takes a few days for the bike to become registered to you, but you can get a rebate on your current tax disc

There are generally no refunds on Motor tax.

    See Here.

It can be used as a bonus when selling the vehicle i.e. Taxed 07/07...

You have the rest of the month + seven days grace (into next month) to get the vehicle taxed. I've previously been stopped by the Gardai with a new bike without tax. I carried the receipt and showed that to them, and they were absolutely fine with it.

As for the refund, the tax disc is associated with the bike, and gets passed on to the new owner.

Also, you'll have to tax the bike from the beginning of this month. I got my current bike on the 29th April 2005, and tried to tax it from May onwards, but the motor tax office rejected my application, so had to pay the tax for the full month of April too...
