i was in a hair salon the other day and there was a talk on the radio about racism(ie- so many foreign people in ireland that half the country is"apparantly" now racist)

What annoyed me the most is the broadcaster said he hates when irish people say "im not rasist...BUT"

Well how else we gonna say it-A lot of us believe the goverment has been too kind and letting everyone here-Ireland isint for the irish anymore- They have polish pubs- polish food stores- even polish sections of the supermarkets over here! Half the people we work with arent irish now and the goverment are complaining about the rise of unemployment- IF YOU STOPPED LETTING HALF THE WORLDS POPULATION INTO THE COUNTRY WHO WORK FOR MUCH LESS THAN WE DO THERE WOULDNT BE A RISE IN UNEMPLOYMENT!!!

And NO i am not racist-I have a lot of friends from diff races-I am just pissed off that i cant walk down the street without seeing a million foreigners!

And another thing-I went to meet a friend for lunch- and i pass the social welfare office on my way- and i saw 3 FOREIGN GUYS COME OUT OF THERE! If the irish government is handing out the dole to anyone who walks in to the country they are bigger spastics than i thought!

And i dont CARE if u all think im racist cuz im not the only 1 SICK of this ****n invasion!!!

I think you'll find that the government aren't complaining about rising unemployement and that the live register is at an 18 month low.

    Run along now.

I bet there are a fair few boardsie's who have grumbled about something pretty similar to what the OP has just described - they just wont admit it here.

    I am not a racist - http://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/Racist
A racist is someone that hates a type of people because of their race. Sometimes they will try to kill the group of people. That is called genocide.

    Famous racists
    *Adolf Hitler
*George Wallace wanted to keep races separated while governor of Alabama; he stood in front of a school house door at the University of Alabama to stop desegregation of the school with the acceptance of two black students, Vivian Malone and James Hood.
*The Ku Klux Klan is a group of people that hate people that aren't white and/or Protestant.
*William Shockley, father of the transistor, believed African Americans were less intelligent than Caucasians. He said that people with IQs below 100 could be paid for surgery to never have a baby.
*Louis Farrakhan is the leader of the largely black Nation of Islam. Farrakhan has referred to Jews, Palestinian Arabs, and Asians as "bloodsuckers" and stated that "Murder and lying comes easy for white people." He has also been accused of calling Judaism a "gutter religion".

    http://dictionary.laborlawtalk.com/Racism
Racism refers to the belief that race is the primary determinant of human capacities, that a certain race is inherently superior or inferior to others, and/or that individuals should be treated differently based on their ascribed race. Sometimes it refers to beliefs, practices, and institutions that negatively discriminate against people based on their perceived or ascribed race. There is a growing, but controversial, tendency to state that racism is a system of oppression that combines racist beliefs, whether explicit, tacit or unconscious, with the power to have a negative effect on those discriminated against at a societal level.

    BUT

I do feel slightly frustrated when I can't find an English or Irish speaking person in my local SPAR, when the guy on directory enquiries can't give me the information I need, because he is NOT fluent in our countries First language, and when my sister can't get a job in the local restaurant, despite having experience, and is told it is because she is demanding too much money (€9.50 per hour), when there are plenty of foreigners who will work for less!

I think one place that everyone can notice the massive amount of immigrants is O'Connell street. This is meant to be our main street in Ireland yet when I walk down it, its more of a case of spotting the paddy. I dont mind people coming over for work. I mean I was in Canada all summer working myself but I just don't like when this sort of immigration begins to affect our national identity.

This depends where you work. If half of all the workforce wasn't Irish then that would mean that half the population of the country were immigrants. Now I'm pretty sure that's not true.
And NO i am not racist-I have a lot of friends from diff races-I am just pissed off that i cant walk down the street without seeing a million foreigners!

Well maybe you're not racist but you're prone to a bit of exaggeration. Also - why does seeing people of other races piss you off? Sounds a bit intolerant to me.

Oh No! Three foreign guys! Three foreign guys leaving the social welfare office!!!
First off - are you saying they are foreign because they have a different skin colour to you or were they speaking another language? I know plenty of black Irish people who would be insulted if you called them foreign because of their skin colour.
Also - a person has to be resident in this country for 2 years before they can collect social welfare so it's untrue to say the government is handing out dole to anyone who walks in.
And i dont CARE if u all think im racist cuz im not the only 1 SICK of this ****n invasion!!!

    Ok, a few things.

    1) Believeing that the govt. should tightne up immigration procedure does NOT make you racist. You MIGHT be labeled as a hypocriete considering Ireland's past and the emigrants that left these shores for other lands.

    2) Thinking that immigrants are only here for social beneifts will make you a racist. I work in an office where we have two poles and a lithuanian working in the warehouse, and apparently they're like horses when it comes to getting work done.

    3) Fish supper in the paper - excellent line!

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

I take it then that by your rationale, if there were no foreigners in the country, all those problems would disappear because all those jobs would be filled by Irish people?
and when my sister can't get a job in the local restaurant, despite having experience, and is told it is because she is demanding too much money (€9.50 per hour), when there are plenty of foreigners who will work for less!

more likely what would happen is that those spars and directory enquiries would close down because no-one wants to work there. There's plenty of work for everyone in this country. If there are foreigners who will work for less, fair play to them, if they can survive on it. would it be more acceptable if it were IRISH people willing to work for less?

are you on the dole? if not, what difference does it make to you? There is an election coming up, are you going to stand, so you can change the system? or are you just going to bitch about it for the rest of your life.

    And whose fault it that?

It's the greedy rich IRISH twats, that's whose fault it is.

The rich get richer and are finding even more vulnerable people to exploit.

And moving abroad to another country, undercutting the existing wage structures is something we Irish are specialists at.

By saying "I'm not racist, but" you're saying I'm not racist but I'm about to say something racist. In which case you can just leave out the "I'm not racist, but" at the start of your sentence. It's just a way of softening up a statment.

For your statement in post one you say

"I am just pissed off that i cant walk down the street without seeing a million foreigners! "

I don't think that's racist. Daft, yes, but not racist, so there would be no need to put the "I'm not racist, but" to defend yourself before the sentence. It's just your opinion. One that probably means you must hate going to any foreign country.

Doing a quick Google of the statement brings up some interesting links.

    http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=i'm+not+racist,+but+.+.+.

Now I'm not thick but I can't think of anything else to type.

I mean I was in Canada all summer working myself but I just don't like when this sort of immigration begins to affect our national identity.

And that doesn't strike you as remotely hypocritical? What does a Canadian look like? What's their national identity? Could it possibly be made up of immigrants and foreigners?

As for pepper, you really are racist. No buts about it.
But if that's what floats your boat, get on with it.
21, eh? I graduated from university with a degree in chemistry few years after you were born. Everyone I knew had to leave the country because there were no jobs here, you can't remember those days, but it seems to me that you need a little education in the way economics work.
People who have no jobs leave the their own country to go to where the jobs are. That's it.
If you don't understand that, then you're snookered
